I interviewed Mrs. Breland, our new social worker. Here is what she had to say.
Q: What do think about the school so far?
A: I love it! Everyone is super nice and really helpful. I like how my role allows me the opportunity to interact with so many people. I also like the cool events the school has, such as the Olweus kickoff. I heard really good things about future events and can’t wait to experience them with everyone.
Q: What do you think about the trash in the ocean?
A: I don’t like it. It’s not safe for the ocean life or our drinking water quality. It’s also not a fun beach experience when you see trash floating around in the water. If we make sure to put our trash in a garbage bin, it will help reduce littering and encourage others to do the same.
Q: Do you think that kids should have homework?
A: Homework helps students continue to learn the material. I definitely believe that students should receive work, but in moderation. There are also opportunities to complete homework before you even get home, like during lunch or extra help.
Q: Do you think we should not have school on Halloween?
A: School should be on Halloween. If it wasn’t on Halloween, I wouldn’t get an opportunity to see everyone’s fun costumes! I also think school being on Halloween allows for some fun activities to occur while learning.
Q: Do you think we should start school later or earlier?
A: I like the current school schedule. It is an early start but it also means that the day ends early. You have the rest of the day to do other activities.
Thank you for your time, Mrs. Breland! I really enjoyed interviewing you!
